Born in Ethiopia, Dr. Tolessa graduated as a Doctor of Medicine and went further, completing a Fellowship in Orthopedic and Traumatology at the University of Kuopio, Finland.

Dr. Tolessa specializes in Trauma and Spine, having qualified from Leeds University in the UK. He also earned additional qualifications in Joint Replacement and Trauma from Sunnybrook Health Science Center, University of Toronto, Canada.

He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, UK. During his 10 years of work in both National Health Service and Private Practice in the UK, Dr. Tolessa established a Centre of Excellence for Treatment of Pelvic and Acetabulum Injuries. He introduced the first Minimal Invasive Surgery (MIS) for Hip replacement in West Yorkshire.

Dr. Tolessa established DOC Medical Center in 2018 after heading the Orthopedic Department at Al Ahli Hospital, Doha, Qatar, for 8 years. It had long been Dr. Tolesssa’s wish to open a clinic that offers a complete musculoskeletal service, and DOC (Doha Orthopedic Clinic) became that vision.

Over the last two decades, Dr. Tolessa worked as an Orthopedic and Spine Surgeon in international teaching hospitals in Finland, Canada, UK, and Qatar. He earned a reputation for providing quality service and care in Orthopedic medicine and surgery. His commitment to his patients surpasses patient expectations; his skillful and result-oriented practice has facilitated the recovery and rehabilitation of thousands of patients around the Globe.
