Diagnostics & Imaging
Diagnosis is an essential procedure for the treatment of all ailments. The process may involve questioning and the physical examination of the patient. At other times, a specialized test must be carried out for effective diagnosis.
DOC Medical Centre Diagnostic department is equipped with several various types of equipment for effective diagnosis.
MRI
MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) scanning is an innovative imaging technology that provides precise pictures of the body anatomy. It generates a clear and accurate image of the body organs that allows medical doctors to make precise diagnoses where other procedures failed or provided incomplete results.
Unlike X-ray and CT Scan, this procedure does not use radiation; rather, it depends on large magnets to combine images and create a 3-dimensional picture of the internal organs. The method may require administering an intravenous contrast agent to better view some internal organs or abnormalities.
Digital X-Ray
Digital X-Ray is also referred to as direct digital radiology. In contrast to the old X-Ray technology developed in the darkroom, this technology uses modern cameras to acquire images directly and transfer them to a computer system for instant viewing.
The Direct Digital Radiology machine uses digital sensors to produce the images and stores them in a digital medium. So, you do not have to wait for hours or days to get your X-Ray Scan result. Since the scan image is available almost instantly, diagnosis and treatment become faster. Digital-X-Ray is often used in facilities where the patient turnover is high.
Perhaps the best benefit is that the quality of the image output is much higher. The entire scanning infrastructure can be integrated into a remote viewing network; it also allows the scanned images to be transferred digitally.
The Digital X-Ray technology has brought immense value to the orthopedic department of Doc Medical Center. It allows our doctors to diagnose patient's condition effectively and provide necessary treatments faster. It is also used in our dental clinic to capture a 3D panoramic view of the mouth that outputs a high-resolution perspective of the gums, teeth and mouth.
Ultrasound
Ultrasound technology has been a staple in the medical diagnostics industry for over two decades. Therefore, it is a tried and tested technology for creating images of different internal body structures.
The DOC Medical Centre diagnostic laboratory is equipped with high-resolution, colour-flow doppler ultrasound that provides superior imaging of a patient's internal structures. It allows for the viewing of delicate structures such as cartilage, tendons, muscular chains, ligaments, bones, joints, and much more.
This diagnostic technology empowers doctors to easily diagnose various evasive health conditions like osteoarthritis, bone erosions, joint effusion, tendinopathy, and many more. Ultrasound is versatile; it proves helpful in any diagnostic procedure where the medical practitioner needs to view internal organs
DEXA Scan
DEXA Scan, also known as dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry, is a procedure for diagnosing bone-related health challenges sometimes requires the measurement of the bone's density.
The DEXA Scan technology is an innovative technology that uses X-Ray to determine bone mineral density and bone loss. The scan's value is compared with the norm to determine the onset and risk of osteoporosis and bone fracture.
Blood Testing
The blood test, also known as phlebotomy, is one of the most commonly used diagnostic procedures in medical practice. The reasons are simple; the procedure can diagnose many health conditions ranging from detecting blood parasites, antibodies, vital organs' health, and much more.
The procedure is simple. The technologist confirms your identity and takes a sample of your blood from your hand's veins. Depending on your tests, more than one sample may be taken. Some of the popular blood tests include blood culture, cholesterol tests, kidney function test, blood typing, blood glucose, full blood count, and many more.
